Budaya dan Ruang – Pendekatan Antropologis

Abstract


Di antara konsep-konsep kunci dalam antropologi, “ruang” (dalam bahasa Inggris, space) memegang posisi terkemuka. Pada tahap pertama, relasi dari “budaya” dan “ruang” kelihatan cukup jelas: hubungan spasial adalah variabel utama yang mempengaruhi perilaku dan alam pikiran (kognisi) manusia, sementara strategi metodologis utama dalam kajian antropologi telah berhubungan erat dengan batas-batas spasial “lapangan” (the field). Meskipun demikian, pada dekade akhir hubungan antropologi dengan “ruang” menjadi menggelisahkan. Berawal dari kritik terhadap konsep “budaya” dan “lapangan”, konsep “ruang” menjadi diperebutkan.
